a luxury 3 bedroom apartment
Waren Mill Bamburgh Northumberland
BayView - at the water's edge of the Northumberland coast
The Old Waren Mill has stood at this tidal crossing since Norman times. Built as a working grain mill and in use for centuries, the building has the solidity and character of something made to last - stone walls thick enough to keep out the North Sea wind, the sound of Waren Burn running below, a stillness that settles over you within an hour of arriving. BayView occupies the first floor, and from the moment you walk in,
the bay is in front of you.
Budle Bay opens out directly below the apartment - a tidal inlet that is a Site of Special Scientific Interest for good reason. At high tide the water fills the bay and the light on it shifts constantly through the day. At low tide the mudflats appear, and with them the birds: redshank, curlew, dunlin and golden plover working the waterline, with pink-footed geese coming in to roost on winter evenings in numbers that take the breath away. Grey seals are regular visitors. Otters have been spotted from the apartment windows. Over 200 species of bird have been recorded on and around the bay. The spotting scope in the apartment is not decorative.
The living area and kitchen face the bay. On a clear day, Holy Island and Lindisfarne Castle sit on the horizon. On still mornings, the surface of the water is close to a mirror - this is the view that guests always remember.
Included with every stay is the Jetty Cottage - a private waterside retreat on Waren Burn, sitting where the fresh water meets the tidal bay. It is a small, characterful space with the water directly outside the window and the bay opening out ahead. Most guests find it becomes their favourite part of the property: somewhere to sit with a morning coffee and watch the bay wake up, or to come back to in the evening when the light is going. There is nothing quite like it elsewhere on this coast, and it is included with every BayView booking.
After dark, the mill building offers something else entirely. The skies above Waren Mill are among the darkest in England - on a clear night the Milky Way is overhead, the stars reach down to the horizon in every direction, and there is no light pollution between you and the North Sea. One of the BayView team is an accomplished astrophotographer, and the images he has captured from directly above the property - the Orion Nebula, the Andromeda Galaxy, the Milky Way arching above the Northumberland coast - give some sense of what is possible on a clear winter night. A short walk to the edge of Budle Bay reveals conditions that are
genuinely exceptional.
Bamburgh is 3 miles down the coast road - one of England's finest stretches of beach, and the castle above it one of the most dramatic in the country. Seahouses and the Farne Islands boat trips are 5 miles south. Holy Island, accessible by tidal causeway, is 8 miles north. Alnwick Castle and Gardens are 17 miles inland. The whole of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty runs along the coast in both directions.
BayView sleeps six across three bedrooms, with the Jetty Cottage included for every stay. Whether you come for the wildlife, the castle, the stars or simply to be somewhere genuinely extraordinary,
this is the base you will not forget.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and the weather was mostly kind to us throughout our trip. The accommodation exceeded our expectations, offering a cosy, inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home. Likewise, the 'welcome pack' was impressively generous, filled with thoughtful treats. We had a most comfortable stay at Bay View. Thank you.

Spacious and well equipped holiday apartment in a beautiful location. We had stayed in another apartment within Waren Mill before, but found the ground floor room with additional storage space and the use of Jetty View, for bird watching and reading, great additions to our stay.

Everything about Bay View was geared towards making sure our stay was as encase possible. From the very detailed property information to the online guide to the locality and surrounding area to the much appreciated welcome pack. The owners have clearly wanted to please their guests and we certainly were. We would definitely visit again.

A really nice apartment set in beautiful scenery. The day room by the bay was a wonderful bonus. Loved it so much we've booked again for next year.

We absolutely loved our holiday. Everything was clean and tidy. Plenty of facilities, games etc. The Netflix was logged out when we got there, we never watched tv anyways so it wasn't a problem. We will definitely book again. It was great making memories. Thank you

The apartment was exactly as described, the location is beautiful, six of us had a lovely, comfortable stay and I can't think that any of us had a single complaint, we hope to return at some point, thanks for a nice break.

Lovely property in a wonderful area.

My wife and I had a fantastic week at Bay View although the weather was not that good for the first few days. The apartment and facilities were amazing with tremendous views accross Budle Bay with Holy Island and Lindisfarne Castle in the distance. The apartment was spotlessly clean and furnished to a very high standard with everything supplied that you could possibly need. Very much a home from home. The apartment information package contained everything needed to ensure that all went well and the recommendations of the owners and previous guests were very useful. The Welcome items of drinks and snacks left for us were a very pleasant surprise and were very generous. We highly recommend this holiday property.

Everything we needed, comfortable, warm, very well equipped & great views over the bay. Perfect location for visiting all the places we had earmarked.

Our 5th visit and our 6th already booked for next year - that probably says it all! The view across Budle Bay to Lindisfarne Castle from the window seats is just an irresistible draw. The apartment is immaculate and it takes about 1 minute to relax again and settle in. The welcome hamper is a delight. This time we brought 2 friends with us and they also fell in love with it immediately. Always familiar places to go and new ones to discover. Enough said!
