The Northumberland coast is well known for its wide, sweeping beaches, backed by high sand dunes that are punctuated by dark whinstone outcrops. It is often claimed that the Northumberland Coast offers some of the finest coastal walking in Europe. There’s a huge number of paths and routes just waiting to be explored and ample opportunities to amble inland with picturesque National Park trails to follow and a wealth of fascinating history to discover.
With so much to offer it’s no surprise we have some major trails passing through Waren Mill. The Northumberland Coast Path follows the stunningly beautiful coastline for over 62 Miles from Cresswell in the south to Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north offering a constantly changing landscape that's a pleasure to explore. St Oswald’s Way runs from Holy Island and follows the coast to Warkworth where it turns inland to Heavenfield - the route links some of the places associated with St. Oswald, the King of Northumbria in the early 7th Century, who played a major part in bringing Christianity to his people.
With so many public footpaths there are many chances to incorporate sections of these longer routes into more manageable local circular walks.
Our current favourite walk Bamburgh – Budle Bay - Waren Mill – Ross Sands Circular Walk can be started and finished at BayView and passes through some stunning countryside with amazing coastal views.
